The Famous Haulover Sandbar

The Haulover Sandbar, sandwiched between the ocean inlet and Sandspur Island (also called Beer Can Island), draws weekend crowds in the hundreds. At low tide the exposed sand can stretch out long enough to toss a Frisbee. It’s knee and waist deep for a huge swath, which makes it perfect for lounging the day away. You can’t miss the sea of boats that gather in Biscayne Bay.

Memorial Day Sandbar event, the 4th of July, President’s Day, Columbus Day, Labor Day, Spring Break and a few others are the big dates for the bigger than life Sandbar parties.  But Haulover Sandbar is the sandbar that’s even busy on the weekdays… whenever the weather is nice.  It’s a fun party for all and there’s always a lot to see and do there.

Hour 1: Cruise Past Billionaire Bunker

Indian Creek Village is one of the wealthiest and most exclusive places on the planet. The village, located on a tiny island in Miami’s Biscayne Bay, is home to billionaires and A-listers from business tycoon Carl Icahn, Julio Iglesias’ to supermodel Adriana Lima. The enclave’s main drag recently topped Zillow’s list of the most expensive streets in America, with an average home value of $21.48 million, and it’s been dubbed a “billionaire bunker.”

Hour 2: Find a Spot to get the Party started at the Haulover Sandbar

The Haulover Sandbar is a good cruise down the Intracoastal Waterway where you will see lots of fellow boaters, yachts, restaurants and bars along the banks, private million dollar homes and much, much more.  If you’re into the party scene, this is a great time for all.  You need to do a full day boat rental to do the Sandbar right.  Because once you get down there, you won’t want to leave.

 

Another Locals favorite is ‘Sandspur Island’, better ( and perhaps more appropriately) known as ‘Beercan Island’. Yet another place where the boats anchor up, blast out some Latin music and the locals have a bit of a dance about in skimpy bikinis.

Hour 3: Order Food from one of the concession boats

A concessions boat. Oh yes, you heard right. A food-truck on the water, as it were. If you expect some kind of snotty and spotty kid flipping a couple of overpriced burgers of cardboard consistency here, you couldn’t be further from the truth. Can order anything from Wings, to Ceviche.  No need to swim to the concessions they also do kayak deliveries straight to your boat

Hour 4: The Wind Down

Gradually relax after spending hours in the sun and swimming at the sand bar.

Miami’s climate is ideal for cruising and creating life time of memories with family and friends all year around. With blue skies, consistent warm weather and perfect cruising conditions, Miami has long been a popular family-friendly bareboat charter destination.

Throughout the cruising season, water temperatures average 26 C (80F). Winds are generally light and variable in the mornings, with afternoon breezes and calm nights.

The tidal range is small, only one to two feet, and an Angel yacht charter affords ample opportunity for gentle cruising in sheltered waters.

This was by far the most amazing experience we had in Miami. I’ve never been as impressed by a father daughter duo as I was with Anthony and Captain Ange! Oh, and first mate coco was like the icing on the cake! My girlfriend and I spent half of our day on the water living the dream. The crew was knowledgeable, respectful, and accommodating. Talk about class. The yacht was everything we expected: absolute luxury! It was very roomy on the deck as well as down in the cabin. The cabin was practically nicer than our hotel room! They basically offered my girlfriend and I everything we needed for the perfect date: great music, great drinks, hors d'oeuvres, and ambiance. My girl got to layout and sunbathe on the bow for a bit while I admired the scenery. Then we took the jet-ski out for a ride and spent some time partying with some other folks at the sandbar. We wanted to relax a bit toward the end of the charter so we closed out our date with a tour of Biscayne Bay, a couple glasses of Veuve, and a breathtaking view of a golden Miami sunset... Swim and Sip at Monument Island. The Monument Island is an almost secret hideaway tucked amongst the spectacular small islands located between Miami and Miami Beach. The island has a small beach which is very safe to swim from and has a soaring 110 foot monument (like a mini Washington Monument) to Henry M. Flagler which was erected in 1939.

The Sun & Fun

Miami is known for its beautiful waterways, mega yachts, and beautiful mansions on the water. Discover the beauty Miami has to offer with a private tour aboard our yacht.

A yacht charter is a great way to get to know the Miami River in Miami among other waterways and to see Downtown Miami and Brickell, in ways that many locals don’t even experience.

Want to view one of Miami’s most unique and exclusive neighbourhood accessible only by boat? See a part of Miami’s history?  Stiltsville is a group of wood stilt houses located one mile south of Cape Florida on sand on the edge of Biscayne Bay in Miami-Dade County, Florida. The structures stand on wood or reinforced concrete pilings.  ‘Crawfish” Eddie Walker was the first to build a shack on stilts in 1933, toward the end of the prohibition era, allegedly to facilitate gambling, which was legal at one mile offshore. Stiltsville may not have looked like much, but in the 1940s and 1950s, it was a popular place where lawyers, bankers, politicians, and other moneyed, well-connected Miamians came to drink, relax and kick back. It is a 5-hour cruise Round Trip.

One of South Beach’s favorite place to party is Monument island. Where you can view Star Island’s collection of multi-millionaire and celebrity homes. Buzz by Miami Beach, where the locals strut their stuff in the sun and you can snap photos of the Art Deco mansions lining South Beach. Photo ops of Miami’s downtown skyline too.

Hour 1: North Beach

Stroll past North Beach and possibly see dolphins playing. We see dolphins in this area the majority of the time in the evening.

Hour 2-3: South Beach and Beyond

Pass South Beach and multi-million dollar homes then pass Downtown Miami as you are enjoying your favourite beverages listening to your favourite tunes, capturing some of your best photos of your family and friends.

Hour 4-5: Biscayne Bay

View the beauty of Key Biscayne, The lighthouse, and enjoy seeing the unique neighbourhood known as Stiltsville.  Swim at the Nixion Sandbar and ride the jet ski with Downtown Miami as the backdrop.

Hour 6-7: Late lunch or Early Dinner!

Gradually relax after spending hours in the sun and swimming at the sand bar.  Fulfil your appetite after the day in the sun and eat at one of Miami Beach’s favourite places, Monty’s South Beach or Shuckers Miami Beach! Both are excellent.

Hour 8: The last call

Hour 3: Star and Fisher island
